Any one hear "Democracy Now" today: Re-Radio Free Brattleboro |
|
I am assuming this is Brattleboro, Vermont. There is a clip on the DN website about the U.S. Marshalls shutting down 'Radio Free Brattleboro'. WTF!? Does anyone have a good grasp on what was going on? Was Radio Free Brattleboro some sort of pirate radio station? (Sounds like it was just up my alley!) Being from New England, I've been through Brattleboro a hundred times if I have been through it once, it is a rural town. What was going on?

http://www.commondreams.org/news2004/0308-08.htmFrom what you say, it seems the FCC made good on its threat. Yeah, it's them. Too bad. They got "busted". http://www.rfb.fm/

3. Holy Crap! I guess it is!! |
|
That's just f_____g typical of the Bush cabal! A two mile broadcasting radius! Watch out Clear Channel! Community Radio is going to slay the corporate media dragon!! With commercial radio stations sucking beyond all suckdom, we enforce a crackdown on a station with a two mile range! Goes to show you, the radical right hates ANYTHING public.

rfb's update says the station thought it had reached a "truce" with the FCC over its broadcasting without a license while it awaited license approval. And then the feds moved in anyway.
It's so heartening to see the feds going after REAL criminals!:sarcasm:

5. I wonder what kind of programming they had? |
|
What kind of music? What kind of talk if any? Hmmmm. One place I used to live had a local radio station that played some really eclectic stuff! You may hear The Beatles one minute then Billy Holiday a few minutes later. It was great if you could get it!
