I've got to say, the "Oprah" piece today put some perspective on NO for me |
|
Politics and all aside, this is a human story of heartbreaking proportions. I think Ms. Winfrey reflected that today.
More than cable news or the talk shows, "Oprah" is a popular show, watched by lots of folks who may not have Wolf, Keith or Jon on their email lists. It was a poignant look at the "travesty" - as Oprah mentioned - that is New Orleans.
I appreciate that.

6. Tomorrow is Mississippi. I'm glad she's going. |

Poor MS has been a blip on the screen compared to NO. Granted, the situation in NO was beyond horrific. But if it weren't for Anderson Cooper, you wouldn't have known anything was wrong in MS. (And I still don't have a clue how Alabama fared.)
If nothing else, maybe people will start to realize that the starvation and neglect happened in another state. A state that doesn't have Blanco as governor. A state that doesn't have a city where Nagin's the mayor. A state who's Republican governor pretended that everything was just fine.

8. She called it a travesty, and repeated, "These are Americans"...no more, |
|
no less. It was a strong statement, imo.
