Bush's poll numbers are in free fall, but CNN's Malveaux claimed ..
.. they are improving

On the September 12 edition of CNN's The Situation Room, White House correspondent Suzanne Malveaux claimed that "we have seen poll numbers improve" since Coast Guard Vice Adm. Thad Allen took charge of the Bush administration's Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts -- despite the fact that most publicly available polling shows the Bush administration's numbers in a free fall. Later in the program, Situation Room host Wolf Blitzer claimed that Bush's poll numbers are going up -- but used a misleading comparison of different polls conducted by different news organizations using different methodologies in order to do so. <snip>

Who cares if they delude themselves and talk to the walls?

3. This entire horrific episode...
...has separated the infotainment heads from the real journalists as far as I'm concerned. Wolf Blitzer and Suzanne Malveaux fall into the former category. Wolf's slide into irrelevance is particularly striking, considering his glory days in Gulf War I.

11. Thanks, Erika. You know something?
I think it's ultimately sad, really. For all the nationalistic USA-centrism of the last five years, our "journalists" have never bothered to read, much less understand, the Constitution of the United States. The First Amendment, for its time, was breathtaking in its refusal to allow the powerful elite to avoid public scrutiny.

The current crop of talking heads are a tragic, washed up group of inbreds (too much access to power, maybe?) that have no concept of their original, and one might say noble, reason for existence.

4. Our citizens want to think their president is good. W's not
but there will be psychological resistance from those who don't want to see or know the truth.

5. Gallup's always artificially high. And I love watching the corporate...
...TV news whores make themselves look out-of-touch as they squander the only commodity they have to offer - credibility.

7. The GOP will continue to muddy the water, and if the Dems don't
start to delineate clearly and consistently, ALL OF THEM, the key issues in all this...then he WILL ESCAPE further judgment.

The "plan" for his comeback was out in public a couple of days ago--think any Democrats read it??

Democrats need a "coach" or permanent strategist to put together a cohesive media campaign. I argued to put the party on a perpetual campaign against these thugs, but it never happened. Along with that, the Dems need to define themselves and push that.

If they don't do it, it will come to 2006 and just be politics as usual and they will LOSE.

9. Why do you surrender your fate to others? Why don't YOU start to...
...delineate clearly and consistently the key issues in all this. There are ways for citizens to be heard and make a difference. See this:

Fuck the "THEY better do something about it" attitude. MY new attitude is "what are YOU doing about it Dem??"

So? What are you doing about it?...

I write to the papers/call soundoff lines, I phone reps in DC, I try to inform on events outside the US for Buzzflash....have some connection through someone who tries to convey ideas that we discuss...

And I've been marching and donating and doing most of the above for...about 30 years.

I'm doing fine, considering I'm on total disablility.
