In Katrina, CNN Finds Its Voice: Jon Klein Says Network Will Be "Aggressiv
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/

CNN/U.S. president Jonathan Klein says the answer is yes, at least for his network.

"It's been an objective of ours for the whole year, to take a more muscular and assertive approach to covering the news," Klein told TVNewser yesterday. "...Amid all the talk we've been doing about it, we have finally found a story where correspondents and anchors could apply it."

He describes the approach as "less passive, more aggressively seeking answers, demanding answers," and says it was a natural response for for the network on a story "where there was a big disconnect between what government officials were saying and what we were seeing."

But this new voice is not going away after the television networks pack up their satellite trucks, Klein says.

"This will be a permanent hallmark of our coverage. Our voice is going to be one of aggressively demanding answers on behalf of the audience, which does not have access to a microphone or those officials."

4. I think Novak is gone already. After his little onair tantrum
I think he was asked to take a permanent vacation! Leslie can be different, so I'm going to give him a little time to see how he reacts. But what's your problem with Lou Dobbs? I don't always agree with his points of view, but I do most of the time. I don't think you can expect to ALWAYS hear what you want to hear on any network. Heck, we con't always agree here on DU!!!!

7. Dobbs is a big fat racist, you must have missed it right after Katrina

when he exposed it. Leslie is a racist asshole too.

They both suck, they are hurting America.

Save yourself and turn that shit off.

10. I hear ya sista -
at least Novak is gone now. One great thing that I see is Anderson Cooper - he's really into finally showing the truth (to the best that he is allowed, I think). Now Paula Z - I can't stand that B either!!

2. I sure hope he stick with that! I really have seen a difference lately.
I think we've all seen it, but were afraid it would quickly disappear. I'm glad to hear Klein say this!!!

5. Have a regular daily feature where you truth check
places like Rush and Faux News. Fire hacks like Blitzer and don't do 24/7 coverage of celebrity trials and missing white women.

6. Does that mean they will cover poverty?
If not what will they be aggressive about? Holloway?

9. Aaron Brown is pushing the poverty and class issue
in regards to Katrina and has been doing so consistently from day 1.

8. Didn't this twit say not long ago that they were going to be
more "personality-driven?"

Looks like he had a second thought after people tuned in for actual news.

I'm not holding my breath that they'll really change anything, though.
