Jessica Lynch and the Right-Wing Media Hate Machine.
Edited on Tue Nov-11-03 04:37 PM by Homer12
Months ago Jessica Lynch was a hero to these people.

They expoused her as a soldier, a hero, and a loyal american, and falls under all three catagories.

We at DU all knew that the rescue story was a lie, a cooked up manipulation by the Pentagon and it was oppurtunisticaly used by the media.

Then she speaks the truth about what really happened to her and that the rescue story was a sham. And for this, the right turns on her like a cornered animal.

The Right-Wing Media Hate Machine, instead of being out-raged that they sucked up the story hook-line-and-sinker, were lied to straight in the face by "their" politicans, lack any sort of ethical or moral fortitued to actually critisze themselves for their own failings.

The Right-Wing Hate Mahine has shown it's true colors, and these colors are all shades of hatred and contempt, they have NO ethics and morals, and will win at all costs. They will canabalize eachother to keep everybody in line. From the biggest drugged up AM radio conservative hate jockey to the lowly local neo-con newspaper columnist.

The saddest thing is that, not only do these right-wing media hate machines types try to hurt Jessica Lynch and us, but they really don't realize that their loathing, cyncism false out-rage, hatred, win by all means conservative philosiphy really hurts them more in the end.

I pity them, they really just revile themselves (You have to have a strong constitution to know that your being lied to constantly and then repeat those lies, it's hard being a propoganda tool for so long) and don't even know that they should do us all a service actually just take their hate out on themsleves.

1. Sources?
I'm interested to hear about the reaction to Lynch's statement in the right wing press.

What sort of sources are you browing that have "Lynch-bashing" commentary?

It seems to me that the big journalistic failure within the mainstream media has been the lack of desire to treat Lynch's accusations with the seriousness they deserve.

Take, for instance, this article from the New York Times.

It discusses Lynch's claims that the Pentagon falsified accounts of her rescue, but fails in every way to address the gravity of those charges. Let's set the record straight: this is the story of a US soldier and ex-POW who is telling us that the Pentagon is publicizing intentionally falsified information about the events taking place in Iraq for the sake of propaganda. Does it not seem as if this might indicate a troubling pattern of behavior on the part of the military and the Bush administration?

3. Then There's the Rape Charge
The other thing that bugs me about the media's coverage of this story is the fact that so much attention is paid to the issue of whether or not Lynch was raped by her captors. I'm sure you all have seen these stories, but here are a couple recent examples:

http://www.reuters.co.uk/newsPackageArticle.jhtml?type=worldNews&storyID=401939§ion=news

http://www.startribune.com/stories/484/4198984.html

It seems to me that the issue of whether or not Lynch was raped should be of concern to her (she can't remember the incident) and her loved ones (her family will not confirm or deny these reports). This aspect of her ordeal is being sensationalized and spread all over the news-scape in humiliating detail.

As awful as it must have been, this detail should not be drawing attention away from the Pentagon's presentation of an intentionally falsified account of Lynch's capture and rescue for the purposes of pro-war propaganda.

4. Rape Charge and Torture Chamber explained
During last night's interview it was explained by Jessica and her Iraqi doctor that part of her bowel was paralized from the accident. It was also stated that her bowel had been "electronically stimulated" to move bile thru the tract without success. This hit me right away, any rectal damage was probably due to having some type of object inserted rectally to "shock" her colon, then I remembered the so called torture chamber across the hall from Jessica's room, a cot and a battery. We're talking about a third world hospital here with the most primitive equiptment you can imagine. This is just a theory I have.
