Drudge selectively quoted comic Margaret Cho's scathing and hilarious Monday appearance at the MoveOn.org shindig in NYC.

Someone posted Drudge's report to Free Republic, and the FReepers went berserk, showering Cho's manager with a torrent of racist, misogynistic hate mail.

Now, some of them are likely to regret it: both Cho's Web site and American Politics Journal published a slew of FReeper hate mail -- including e-mail addresses and other contact information. Some are corporate types (boycotts anyone?) -- and one is a civil servant who wrote from a West Virginia .gov address (time to call the state inspector general...)

Oh, yeah, it cost the whole state of West Virginia a dollar! Who can honestly tell me they've never slacked off at work? Who can say they've never used a break to surf the net? It's just vindictive to go after the guy for this. If he's not performing his job function than his superiors will deal with it.

I don't have anything against the man for being a dumb FReeper, he has as much a right to make a living -- and slack off at work sometimes, so long as he gets his work done -- as anyone else, you and me included. Attacking the man is simply an attempt to silence an opinion that doesn't happen to conform with ours.

I'm proud of the man for conducting himself in a civil manner. If the other FReepers had done the same, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. It does nothing to encourage civil debate by going after the livelihoods of the people who actually participate in it.
