Brit Hume speaks. I puke. |
|
The latest from ol' Brit, on his Special Report that I'm watching right now.
"CIA director George Tenet may have mounted a spirited defense of his agency on Iraq and asked for more time to complete his work, but this is not how--this is how the AP led its report on the testimony: quote, 'In his first public defense in the growing controversy over intelligence, CIA Director George Tenet said Thursday that US analysts never claimed before the war that Iraq was an imminent threat. The urgency of such a threat was the main argument used by President Bush for going to war.' In fact, no administration official, including the President, has ever said the threat from Iraq was imminent, and the President specifically argued that the US could not afford to wait until such threats were imminent before acting."
LIELIELIELIELIELIELIELIELIELIELIE... My lie alarm is going off. Fucking bald-faced unmitigated and intentional untruth, and I've heard it parroted so much.
Anyone here have a link to the soundbyte in which Ari Fleischer (or Scott McClellan maybe, dunno which one it was at that time) says, and I quote, "We're talking about an imminent threat."? They played it on a Pacifica program I was listening to recently.
Or how about this, does anyone have links to audio or video of Rice, Rumsfeld, Cheney, or Bush* going on and on about the "mushroom cloud"? Or a nice montage of Bush* saying "He's got weapons of mass destruction." "We know he's got weapons of mass destruction." "He's got WMDs." "He's got weapons." "Saddam Hussein continues to produce and conceal some of the deadliest weapons ever created."
Please. Somebody link me to some of these audio and/or video soundbytes so I don't decide I made it all up because of my pathological liberal hatred for Bush*. </sarcasm>

Wow. Thank you so much for pointing me toward that montage. "Of course we'll find the weapons. That's what this war was about." Sounded like Ari Fleischer.
Hm. Ari Fleischer says "threat is imminent". Ari Fleischer says "the war is about WMDs". Ari Fleischer resigns. RWers bicker and caw that "nobody in the administration ever said the threat was imminent," "the war was about liberation of the Iraqi people"... Well, I suppose that's technically true, because Ari Fleischer is no longer 'somebody in the administration'. It's just as true as 'British intelligence says that Saddam Hussein sought to obtain large quantities of uranium from Africa'. Technically true (British intel -did- say that), practically misleading (we knew it was bogus).
And did you notice that in the first several months of the campaign, it wasn't called a war? No, it wasn't called a liberation either. The first day of this war, Bush* said "The disarmament of Saddam Hussein has begun."
For shame.

4. But that's not necessary |
|
Because the word "imminent" WAS USED. It was either Ari Fleischer or Scott McClellan. I just find it funny that Brit Hume would parrot a FLAT-OUT lie, instead of just a sideways lie that he can dodge away from after the fact.

5. The answer is simple... |

They're doing all they can to cover for pResident Sleepy McChimp. It is hand-job central, and sadly, 50 percent of americans are so unbelievably stupid that they are actually worried more about their children seeing a partial breast than they are about the criminal misconduct of their selected leaders who can murder and destroy the lives of thousands with a wink and a nod.

It is important to point out that "imminent" the word is less important than imminent-the-concept if someone's argument is that Bush himself didn't say "imminent," which he didn't.

Brit is so freaking biased it is not even funny. Several times during the SOTU speech he referred to the democratic senators as the "opposition party." Like they are the bad guys or something.
Why isn't the impeachment of Bush starting? If Clinton lied about the war and WMD he would have been impeached immediately. When Bush lies about WMD they spin it into "freeing the Iraqi people from tyranny."
I remmeber speeches by Powell and others saying Saddam is an imminent threat and he has unmaned drones that can carry chem or biological weapons to U.S. Shores.
I sure hope the dem nominee runs those sound bytes of Bush and his cronies talking about the dangers of WMD in ads.
Okay, end of rant.
