Kerry thru the medals Story is getting a Kerry push back-will media report?
ABCNews and the NYT put out the GOP's Kerry's medals "story" where throwing the ribbons of his own, and the medallion's and ribbons given him by those who could not attend the protest, is not clear to our media who have parsed Kerry's 1971 comments and see only that he said he threw "medals" - so it was unfair or a lie for him today to still have the medallion portion of the medal.
So Kerry is now pushing back against those who find fun contrasting the 1971 "I gave back, I can't remember, six, seven, eight, nine medals" with the 2004 statement explain the medals medallions in his office "Kerry has denied that he threw away any of his medals during an anti-war protest in April 1971," as Kerry notes that while he and the military "makes no distinction between ribbons and medals," he says he was clear in response to a specific question as to what was thrown - so when ABC's Charles Gibson reminded Kerry that he has over the years himself made the distinction between medals and ribbons. "In 1984, when you were running for the Senate, that was the first time that you called someone in from labor because they were upset that you had thrown ribbons away. You called them and you made the distinction and said 'I didn't throw my medals away. I just threw the ribbons away,'" Gibson said. Kerry agreed and said "I was asked specifically in greater detail about what took place. I answered the question truthfully." "I think to this day that there is no distinction between the two."
The push back was "This comes from a President who can't even show or prove that he showed up for duty in the National Guard." - "This comes from a President and a Republican Party that can't even answer whether or not he showed up for duty in the National Guard. I'm not going to stand for it." - and - "George Bush has yet to explain to America whether or not to tell the truth about whether he showed up for duty."
I wonder which part of AWOL Bush will lead the political reporting tomorrow - anyone want to bet our biased right wing GOP controlled media ignores AWOL Bush as it tries to make a controversy where there is none?
Indeed hearing Cheney of "I had better things to do than defend my country" fame going after Kerry, with as usual no media context or comment - has me wondering if our media will report McAuliffe's comments on Cheney's record on weapons programs, saying "Why should we believe a word Dick Cheney says about John Kerry — especially when it comes to defending our country? For four years, Dick Cheney hasn't been straight with the American people. Why would he start now?" ..."You remember Dick Cheney. He's the guy who took a year to finally admit to America that the Bush Administration had sent our troops to war in Iraq without the body armor they needed." My bet is on no coverage from our fair and balanced media.

<snip>...The clip from that time shows Kerry speaking about throwing away some of his own medals, according to a report on ABC News's website last night. Kerry's longstanding comments on the subject have been that he did not discard his medals -- a Silver Star, Bronze Star, and three Purple Hearts -- in protest, but instead his own ribbons, as well as medals given to him by two other veterans. Kerry described his actions to the Globe in 2003, according to a new biography of the senator by Globe reporters. ''As he prepared to throw his ribbons over the fence, he reached into his jacket and pulled out the medals from those two veterans. He said his own medals remained in safekeeping," according to the book.<snip>
