This is the most disappointing program on AA. I understand the ratings are low, and I understand why.
I don't listen to AA to hear hip hop explained to me. I really don't care about hip hop music. I don't mind a reference to hip hop in the context of another political discussion, but there is just to much "inside" info on hip hop.
I think a reevaluation is necessary.

I don't mind the hosts, just the topics that get discussed on a daily basis. I agree on Liz.
I'll keep listening, perhaps I'll change my feelings about the show.
( If I do change, just don't call me a "flip-flopper". :) )

6. It's the only show on AAR... |
|
...that really looks at race and gender issues. The discussions about hip-hop are usually in that context.

5. Chuck D is bringing a lot of young people who are interested in hip hop |
|
to the radio to listen to Air America. They'll hear Chuck talk about hip hop and then they'll get the political message and they might even go out and vote. I think it's great and I'm all for it, plus I really like the show. I enjoy listening to Chuck D talk about music, he's very smart, not just about hip hop but about R&B and all kinds of things. I learn a lot from him. The same way I used to love to listen to Joey Ramone talk about rock and roll, he was a historian on the subject. So, Go Chuck!
