DUer cashes in part of IRA CD
Edited on Mon Aug-25-03 04:14 PM by rabid_nerd
In the 90's, it was working minimum wage jobs, on welfare, and at one time had a low income tech position.

In 2000 it was getting along comfortably, thanks to a purchase and hire from a dot com in Florida, and scheduled, matched money going to a 401K.

In 2001, it was doin' OK at it's new job after the dot-com busted, at the same pay rate luckily, with the 401K rolled into an IRA CD.

In 2002, it was getting by, unable to make contributions to the IRA.

In 2003, it's falling behind and taking money out of that IRA (only 10%)

Ahh, the Bush economy. To get in at the last moment of the dot-com era and have enough brains to barely doggie paddle with my head above water.

I contribute time and server space (which otherwise made about $700/month as late as early 2002, but now loses $130 a month) to candidates and organizations at the local, county and state level.

All this was so much easier when I could afford to go to this dinner and that event without forgoing other important items.

I'm lucky to have a savings, but man I hate touching it - especially at 30+% penalties on the ol' tax return.

rant over
