The six Republicans were Ben Nighthorse Campbell (Colo.), Lincoln D. Chafee (R.I.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Olympia J. Snowe (Maine), Ted Stevens (Alaska) and Arlen Specter (Pa.). Stevens is chairman of the Appropriations Committee, and Specter heads the subcommittee with jurisdiction over labor spending. Campbell, Murkowski and Specter will be running for reelection next year and face potentially serious challenges.

Olympia Smowe and Lincoln Chafee would have the good sense to not go along w/that madness.Lisa Murkowski(Franks'daughter)has just gone up a few notches in my book so has old crotchety Ted Stevens. He's Robert Byrds'pal and another guy who is an American first-a veteran.Thank God there's still a few out there....

7. What's Specter's opponent's name/website/whatever? |
|
There's a great quote from Specter from about six months prior to Saddam invading Kuwait.
Something to the effect about Saddam exuding power, sounded like he was really impressed with the guy.
Oh, and it's from the Congressional Record, at about the same time that the liberals, Democrats, and Amnesty International were pointing out what a scumbag Saddam was and all the gassing of his own people.
Repugs at that point were essentially saying "So what?"
