Fluor lands contract in Alabama
Under the multi-year agreement, Aliso Viejo-based Fluor (NYSE: FLR - News) will supply supervision and personnel to help Alabama Power's maintenance group with repair outage work.

The company said peak employment is expected to reach 350.

Alabama Power is the second largest subsidiary of Southern Company, the nation's largest generator of electricity.

The Iraq War: The Market Weighs In

There is also no question that the war has had a positive impact on a few players, such as oil services firm Halliburton (NYSE:HAL - News), engineering and construction firm Fluor (NYSE:FLR - News), and the construction infrastructure management Shaw Group (NYSE: SGR - News) to name just three of the most visible. The continued strong performance of these firms, the continuing record high oil prices, and record levels for energy ETFs such as the Energy Select Sector SPDR (AMEX:XLE - News), suggest that there is no sign yet of a change of direction in Iraq. The market is signaling that, regardless of politicians' comments, the US is in Iraq for the foreseeable future.
