NEW YORK — Toys "R" Us has begun liquidating inventories leading to the closings of 85 U.S. stores, with 12 of those units being converted later to Babies "R" Us (BRU) outlets. The closings will be completed by early spring and the BRU conversions will be accomplished prior to the holiday 2006 selling period, a company spokesman said.
