23 Retail Stores Closing Doors
Retail's Changing Face
http://www.aolcdn.com/channels/05/07/47c3026c-002e4-064e8-400cb8e1

Over the last couple of months, there has been a flurry of announcements from retailers that they are closing stores, slowing expansion plans or ceasing operations altogether.

From Sharper Image and CompUSA to Macy's and Ethan Allen, we round up more than 20 retailers that are closing (at least some) of their doors. Are some of them your favorites?

3. Good on line stores to buy your stuff from
www.compgeeks.com

I won't miss them. They had become arrogant and overpriced. They customer service sucked, and their inventories were outdated.

5. these closings are from across the board,
not just one segment of the economy. Seeing drug stores close especially is telling to me. Lumber yards, yes, there is no housing boom now--movie rentals, yes again....wonder if Rent A Centers are closing because people can't afford to even rent their stuff now?

7. Hancock Fabrics
is another store that was under Chapter 11 last year and recently closed 30 stores nationwide, affecting some 450 employees. Some of the big box stores around me are so empty that I am amazed that they have stayed in business as long as they have.

8. I was wondering when I saw some of those mentioned stores closing around here.
Other stores on the list I'd thought had closed a while ago, and yet other closings surprised me.

Meanwhile, Nordstroms is opening stores in this area for the first time. Opened one in the fall, and another is coming in late March. I wonder how they'll do; it seems to me that the only people who can afford their prices are boosh's crowd, "the have-mores."

9. More to come. LOTS more.
I just read in the Oregonian newspaper that we should expect "hundreds more stores will close their doors", ranging from drug stores, lots and lots of mall stores. Clothing stores. I've heard JC Penney might fold, even Sears.
Even food stores which is surprising.
