Ohio's labor market showed mixed results in February, with the jobless rate dropping to 5.3 percent but total nonfarm employment decreasing 11,600 over the month.

Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, said the improvement in the unemployment rate must be tempered by the total employment decline.

The state unemployment rate in January was 5.5 percent.

Wage and salary employment fell in almost every sector of the economy last month. Losses in retail trade of 2,100 helped lower trade, transportation and utilities employment by a combined 3,400. Educational and health services dropped 2,500, while leisure and hospitality fell 1,900...

1. IF you believe the jobless rate
in Ohio is ONLY 5.3%, you're smoking something strong. Our (US) economic numbers haven't been correct in years.
