Prosecutors allegedly pressing Berkshire (Buffet) to remove Gen Re head
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut federal prosecutors are pressing for some changes in top management at a subsidiary of Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire Hathaway.

A person familiar with negotiations says the prosecutors want the company to replace the chief executive of its reinsurance subsidiary after four former executives of the company were convicted in February.

Prosecutors and Berkshire Hathaway attorneys have discussed the possible removal of Joseph Brandon as CEO of Stamford, Connecticut-based General Re Corporation as a way to end the investigation into the company.

A Connecticut jury found four former executives of General Re and a former executive of American International Group guilty of a scheme to manipulate the financial statements of AIG, the world's largest insurance company.
