Walmart = Republican
It's not breaking news that Walmart is a GOP sympathizer, but in the latest example, they are pulling National Enquirers that feature bad Palin stories.

Did they pull the Enquirers that broke news about John Edwards' affair?

Of course not. Only when the media breaks negative news about Republicans does Walmart sensor it.

Greg Purcell at OpEdNewshas more:

When I went to my local WalMart to purchase the National Enquirer, IT HAD BEEN PULLED FROM THE STORE'S SHELVES!

The WalMart in question is located near Savannah Georgia. We went to the customer service desk to ask why the magazine that I purchased in that store the previous week was not available.

The clerk said:

"I think the VENDOR pulled it. I don't know why.."

The clerk working the other register laughed.

"I KNOW WHY!..Let's just say 'ye shall know the TRUTH and the truth shall SET YOU FREE!'"

<...>

IF this is a widespread action initiated by the National Republican Party, WalMart Corporation, or more importantly IF Palin's people themselves precipitated this action, it will be one of the most important stories to date!

1. I'm very careful because...
I go around leaving anti McCain/Piglet information on the shelves in the local Walmart. I'm always very very careful so as not to be picked up on surveillance cameras. I've gotten pretty good at it...just don't want to get caught.

2. My local Wal-Mart still has the Enquirer
Also in Georgia. Not that I read those things though. They could've pulled it because it wasn't selling but I doubt that, since every Wal-Mart I've been to still has 50+ copies of Madden NFL '06.

3. This makes perfect sense
because the Walmart leadership basically considers itself wedded to the Republican party and to the most retrograde tendencies of Republican policies. In terms of being wedded to the party, look no further than all those double-secret mandatory meetings they recently held in which employees were instructed to vote Republican or else. In terms of being wedded to the most retrograde of Republican policies, how about the corporation-wide refusal to stock contraceptives in its pharmacy until forced to do so by the courts?

The Walton family has saved so many millions in unpaid taxes under the Bush administration they ought to erect golden statues of the Chimp-in-Chief in their parking lots.

I do some work with Wakeup Walmart these days. Oh, the stories we've got...

4. Really?
Where is the proof that Walmart is actually doing this? I'm not at all supportive of Walmart, but I don't think it helps anyone to be completely alarmist.

5. If one Walmart commits the act, WalMart as a company is responsible
Legally that is the case for any company.

So legally and technically, WalMart is pulling the tabloids.

In this case, it's not damaging, endangering or illegal. So one can choose to shop there or not based on a cost/benefit analysis.
