Government Suspends Small-Business Loans
Agency Says It Ran Out of Money

The Small Business Administration said yesterday that it suspended its main $9.4 billion loan program because it had run out of money.
The 7(a) Loan Guaranty program benefits business owners who typically do not qualify for traditional bank loans, said Sue Hensley, an SBA spokeswoman. Yesterday, major lenders said the program's suspension, even though temporary, is a sharp blow to small-business owners. –END-

Ummm...calm down. There really isn't any indications that the
situation is turning into some bad sci-fi flick where the masses
are starving and the elites are behind their high walls...
Not yet anyways.

Yes, its always prudent to stock up and be ready but there's not
need to "head for the hills" just yet.
But... I believe that IF and WHEN the crap hits the fan...cities will be "locked down" and people won't be able to get in NOR out. You really can't have people moving around freely...the TRUTH has a tendency to travel...

5. That just for starters

Remember Maslov's Hierarchy of Needs:

1. Biological and Physiological needs - air, food, drink, shelter, warmth, sex, sleep, etc.

2. Safety needs - protection from elements, security, order, law, limits, stability, etc.

3. Belongingness and Love needs - work group, family, affection, relationships, etc.

4. Esteem needs - self-esteem, achievement, mastery, independence, status, dominance, prestige, managerial responsibility, etc.

5. Self-Actualisation needs - realising personal potential, self-fulfillment, seeking personal growth and peak experiences.

Oppression relys on attacking No. 1 and 2 (you can NOT do 3, 4, 5 unless 1 and 2 have already been meet). Maslov's Hierarchy of Needs is a HIERARCHY, you can NOT belong to any higher "need" group if you are being denied a lower "need". For Example you can NOT join a group to resist (a #3 Need) if you are straving (a # 1 Need). You can not resist (a #4 or 5 Need) if you are in danager of lacking food, drink, shelter, warth, sex, sleep etc (#1 needs) OR denied Security, Order law Stability (# 2 Needs).

Thus you need food, food that can be perserved without electricty (Something that will be cut to reduce people's #1 and #2 Needs). The best type of food is pasta, potatoes, and other straches that last a long time. Also get can good (last a long time).

If you are in a rural area stock up on fuel. If you heat by oil, stock up and think about getting a second tank. Stock up on Gasoline (unles you drive a diesel than double stock up on your oil stocks). Oil users remember people will get disparate, you may have to guard your oil supply. Their is no real difference between fuel oil and Diesel fuel, both can be used in oil furances and diesel trucks (through it is illegal to use Fuel oil in diesel trucks). I do not recommend fuel tanks in urban areas for danger of violating local zoning and or safety laws. Such a violation will be used to confiscate not only your fuel but your food. Do not risk it in URBAN AREAS (rural areas do to distance from other houses, less chance of violating safety laws and less chance of being "discovered" by government agent looking for such fuel and food.

In urban areas (and I would do this in Rural area also) get yourself a good bike (Cannondale, Trek, etc, hybrid preferred). This will address your transportation needs when fuel is cut (in rural areas going by bike will spread out your remaining oil and gasoline). Get use to riding it. Get panniers (Saddlebags) to haul things with. Look at getting a trailer. i.e. a Trailer for the bike (i.e. to be hauled by the bike, I use a Cycle-tote but the BOB and Yakima trailers are almost as good).

Remember you may have to move quickly WITHOUT the use of gasoline. The best way is by Bicycle. If you have a trailer you can haul some of that food you had stock up on.

Join a group of people who think like you do. If one of them is in the boondocks, gang shares and stock up his/hers farm with food/fuel. Also do NOT rely on him/her for ALL of your supplies (i.e. stock up some with the person in the boon docks but keep some supplies yourself).

I would get a very Fuel Efficient car (A primus perferred). Again to spread out fuel supplies, but only ue it when you can not use your bike. Look at getting a little moped. Mopeds get great milage (but at speeds limited to about 25 mph). Again to spread out your fuel supplies.

Before I forget, also stock up on water filtration kits. You can not store enough water, you have to rely on your present water supply. I expect it to be attacks to again hurt people's #1 adn #2 needs. Water fitration systems will minimze this problem (Boiling is another way, but when fuel is restricted hard to do).

Think about how you have to survive before you can think of ending the misrule of Bush.

6. Rural residents....

would best be suited to own HORSES. Its ludicrous to stock up on
fuels. Horses are easier to maintain...reproduce and are relatively
all terrain. ;)
Bicycles are a second good option BUT if you do not have the energy
sources for your BODY, bikes can be a futile form of transportation
especially if you're carrying anything else...

Ergo...some pack mules would also come in very handy.

What's extremely funny about these so-called "survivalists" is that
in essence they want to continue with their "way of life" and
expect to have running water and electricity. NOT going to happen
and NOT what should be done.
This is why I am concerned that Americans will NOT pose a serious
resistance to the future authoritarian rulers... Why? Because they
cannot do without their creature comforts...

And dude...your comment about boiling water being hard to do because
of fuel restrictions. Remember FIREWOOD? :eyes:

7. The boiling of water was aimed at urban citizens

Not rural residents who have ready access to such fuel. There is just not enough wood in Urban areas to heat water just to drink.

As to Mules, a good idea, for rural residents but I do not see a compete cutoff of fuel (You have to plan for a full cutoff but I do not seeit). The reason for no complete cutoff is that the Powers that be will uss fuel as a "reward" for people to behave. If you can get that fuel, you cna than use a high milage car to get to places (Also you can distill alcohol to run small gasoline engines on that is whay I made my comment on Mopeds). Mules and Horses are fine, but bicycles and mopeds are faster.

As to yur statement that Americans will not give up their comforts, you are correct, but only in a limited way. Once American LOOSE those compforts than the Government loses control over them, thus I see the Governemnt providing SOME of the comforts to "reward" segments of the populations that support the Government.

What you have to plan on is not to have to worry about Maslov's Needs #1 and 2. A person AND HIS "CLAN" (lack of a better name, remember belonging is a #3 need) has to secure their safty needs before you can resist. This will vary from perosn to person, groupt to group, area to area. Even time to time. The issue is you have to secure your safety needs. In my opinion that means a secure source of food, water and transporation. What I tried to say in my priro post is one way to secure your #1 and 2 needs. That is the important item, securing your #1 and 2 needs so you cna belong to a group to oppose Bush.
