Casino layoff rumors churn (WA)
http://www.heraldnet.com/Stories/04/1/30/18113721.cfm

TULALIP -- Some Tulalip Casino employees received notices Thursday of a mandatory staff meeting today, which fueled reports of possible layoffs.

Casino officials were unavailable for comment. The casino employs about 1,600 people.

Tribal officials previously have said the casino is doing well, despite basing revenue projections on, in their words, "overinflated estimates" of how much money the casino would make.

Ya know it sucks when the casinos aren't doing well.

1. Really
I've always thought that people would take more risks when they were down.

2. People generally gamble with their "extra" money.
I worked in casinos for about ten years, and we were always slowest in the weeks leading up to Christmas, back-to-school, and tax time. We would get busy after the those refund checks started rolling in, though. Of course, the hard core gamblers are going to be there no matter what, but thankfully most people aren't that hooked.

4. I wonder
How many of those laid off were tribal members versus non-tribal members?
