1. My mom's a huge VT Country Store fan
They have a lot of "old-fashioned" products - from my childhood - so I'm starting to feel old now :)

2. Thank you so much for posting this. My hometown, Janesville WI, just shuttered
their GM plant, so this really hits home.

16. I was in Janesville for the holidays too. I couldn't believe the amount of snow
they have received so far. :wow:

Did you transfer to Fort Wayne in the '80's during that awful time? or did you transfer more recently? I really don't know how Janesville will recover from this. While I know that it's become quite a bedroom community for Madison folks, GM was always the anchor in that town. :-(

Bedroom community for Madison folks? Really! I don't think they need to live in Janesville to escape Madison. Dane County is large enough that there are more cities than here in Allen County. Cripes Dane County has a couple of lakes and they still have lots of room.

Janesville in my opinion is conservative. They have a city manager instead of a mayor that is hired and fired by the city council members. The city council members are elected city wide instead of by districts. I don't think they understand the concept of development. They think that a Children's Museum will bring in money and business.

If I am able to move back I plan to move to the Madison area cause there isn't anything to do in Janesville.

Oh yeah! The snow was fantastic!! At least better than the ice storm we had in Ft Wayne area. I was without power for 34 hours or so. About 110,000 were without power. They were trying to tell people on the radio that those without power could go to the local radio's website for information for places to stay. DUHHHHH Same thing for the local TV station telling those without power to check their website.

I learned that 62 degrees is warmer when the heat is on compared to 62 when there isn't any heat and the outside temp is much lower. I had to deal with the fog going back to Ft Wayne the first 80 miles or so. Got back to Ft Wayne on Saturday and it was in the 50's.

6. Ooh, I *love* Vermont Country Store
But I can't use their site anymore, since they changed it to lock out people using older computers.

:(

Thanks for the other links, though--I'll check 'em out!

7. Call their toll-free number.
I order things from that catalog all the time. I got Christmas gifts there this year, mostly stocking presents.

I like their candy, too. You can find real candy there, the old-fashioned kind made with sugar instead of corn syrup.

8. I'll have to find my old catalog to get their phone #
It's insane, but their site shows you no info at all, just says you need such-and-such to view their site. They should at least have the toll-free number available for people who don't have the latest and greatest PC's. :(

But yeah, I've ordered from them before...those gold-tipped tweezers last for years, and are better than anything you can buy in any stores I've seen. :)

9. I just looked in my latest catalog
from the Vermont Country Store. I hope these are toll-free:

1-802-362-8440
Fax: 1-802-362-0285
Customer Service: 1-802-362-8484

This is in the Winter 2009 catalog. They are the only numbers listed.

13. NOT toll free.....
I shop it a lot, have to use my cell phone to call ( 6,000 minutes and rising).
Mostly I order online.

I can testify to the quality of their stuff, esp. clothes.
Tho I do call if it says imported...not all is 100% American, but most of their stuff is.

And they have the "last forever" things that I got handed down from my grandmother.

18. Yes, you are right.
I just got my phone bill. There is a charge on there for calling the Vermont Country Store. It is the only long distance charge I received this month. I used my land line to call. Mostly I use my cell phone for long distance calling.

10. Yes indeed. For Christmas, my stepfather sent a "potica" to everyone
in the family (about 30 of them). They're baked fresh and shipped. Decadently delicious.
