Walgreens bonuses
Edited on Sun Feb-22-09 07:12 PM by bobmorr1
My wife has been with Walgreens for 29 years. After 25 years they get 200 dollars for a Christmas bonus. Employees less then that are graduated down to 50 dollars min. This year employees were told because of the economy, no bonuses would be given out. Thats fine, my wife is just happy to be working. She finds out bonuses for store managers were still given out. How does $26,000 for a store managers' yearly bonus sound? They take away the bonuses for all the regular workers yet give extremely large bonuses to the store managers. Managers typically receive yearly bonuses over $20,000, Exec. Asis. Managers get about $4000. I think bonuses should have been held off for all workers. Regular workers only make between $15,000 to $30,000 a year. Seems like the more work you do the less you make. Walgreens should become Union.

1. So typical of today's corporate culture. "To them that hath, shall be given."

2. If times are so damn tough
NO bonuses should be given and sure as hell not extra large ones! Unbelievable!

Although to be honest, I worked at Walgreens and I can't believe they actually give a sh*t about the managers either!

3. uh try being a manager sometime - salary sucks, they open and close the store
By the time you take a manager's salary and divide it by their actual hours worked, it
can often look like minimum wage.

Often these bonuses are based on how well store sales plus annual
inventory go.

If the store has a high "leak" rate, meaning lots of theft, embezzlement, shoplifting or unaccounted for inventory, the manager gets less of a bonus, no bonus or gets fired.

Another factor is that often these managers are moved to different towns after a few years.

Being a manager requires a huge commitment.

Without the bonus, the managers aren't making decent wages for the work.

6. my wife could move into "management" where she works
but she`d take a 5-6 thousand a year pay cut. she is a scheduler so she can set her own hours and the amount of overtime she wants.

actually being a manager sucks
