Bobby Jindal is screwing up the recovery..

According to Bernanke if parts of the country refuse the unemployment benefit extensions they could have an negative impact on the stimulus!

That's not an exact quote but it's basically what he said.

When I get the text I'll post it here.

1. We cannot cut them loose.
But it looks a lot like they are cutting themselves loose... again.
And we all know how well it worked out the last time.

2. Shumer sent a letter to the Budget Office stating exactly that.
Also that there is no provision in the bill for Govs to do a line-item veto. It's all or nothing.

3. Here's Reuters highlights

BERNANKE ON UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS:

"From a spending perspective, it is certainly true that unemployment benefits are much more likely to be spent than the average dollar because if people don't have the income, they need those benefits. Unemployment benefits can have the effect of slightly raising the unemployment rate because people have a little more time to look, that's a negative in one sense. The unemployment rate would be higher. But unemployment benefits are a useful, obviously a very useful policy tool that has been used in every recession and in a situation like the present where unemployment is very high it is understandable that Congress would want to provide relief for the unemployed.

This is only part of the statement. A Democrat asked him if states refusing to extend their unemployments benefits would effect the benefit of them over all. He was talking about as a stimulus. Bernanke basically said YES!

So it's important that ALL the states take the employment benefit extension money because it's the best stimulus and the country needs all of it. If some states refuse they will just SLOW DOWN THE RECOVERY!

SO! This isn't just about Louisana, it's about fucking up the WHOLE COUNTRY'S RECOVERY!

Bobby Jindal needs to stop being SELFISH and think about the country instead of just his own SELF's presidential ambitions.
