I'm mathematically challenged, so I can't figure this out myself |
|
but has anyone thought of doing a ball park estimate of how much it cost (total amount of tax cuts) to "create" each job that was created each year under Bush? I'd really like to see that number. The way I figure it, if tax cuts create jobs, it would be nice to know how much each one cost. Maybe we'd be better off giving each unemployed person the money instead. Any mathematicians in here?

the answer is, "tax cuts have nothing to do with creating jobs".

Lower wages makes goods cheaper. Therefore, if an individual cannot afford goods and services, you need to CUT their salary. Once salaries are cut 100%, the desired affect will have been achieved.
I think this slick anti-logic worked BEFORE NAFTA was passed. But they have since CHANGED their story. They told us we were going to move to an "information" economy. Then they moved those jobs overseas.
The best counter I have seen is that "biotech" will be the next information technology. Meaning, you will now spend $80,000 on a $40,000 per year job (regionally adjusted) that you'll lose in 3 years because it will be "outsourced" to someone in India or China who will work for $13,000 a year.
After those young people loose their job, they will still be $50,000 in the whole. They will have to "build character" by working it off with a minimum wage job at wal-mart, McDonalds or Wendy's that service all those "other" individuals who cannot afford to spend money anywhere else. Once EVERYONE works for these "service" level positions for minimum wage, everything will be right in the world.
Except for the free traders DON'T BELIEVE in minimum wage. That unfairly restricts an individuals ability to "compete" for a job. Like say, illegal immigrants from Mexico, China, or wherever else people are fleeing from places WITHOUT minimum wage and labor protection.
Once America is a shitty 3rd world nation like these place, the immigrants will FINALLY start coming and Americans will reach the fruitfull symbiosis of serfdom in a corporate paradise ruled by the likes of "Lord Walton", "Duke Halliburton", etc.... These Lords will owe their allegiance collectively to the Bush dynasty (Jeb DOES have a male heir) and Lord Chamberlin Cheney.

5. Since we've lost jobs under Bush ... |

... and he cut taxes, the implication is that tax cuts cost jobs. Of course, it's not that simple.
In economics there are so many variables and they are all changing all the time, that it is extremely hard to come up with the type of number you're looking for. At best, you can reach estimates; but, since economics really only takes place in the real world, and variables can't be controlled, any estimate that you arrive at can be disputed by someone else.
