Can someone explain this Bernie Madoff litigation to me?

A friend found this and asked if I knew about it. I did not but I figured perhaps some of you folks might be able to fill me in here. Why is Bernie Madoff suing these folks?

2. Madoff did talk of suing hedge funds because they should have known he was a hoax

and should not have bought into his Pozi scam - thus lessening his liability for their customer's losses.
Maybe that is it? I dunno.
