WTC being rebuilt with Chinese glass
Glassmaking Thrives Offshore, but Is Declining in U.S.

The majestic steel beams of a soaring office tower beginning to rise from the ruins of the World Trade Center are a tribute to American resilience, but also a marker in the decline of yet another industry. Not an inch of imported glass went into the two lost towers, built 40 years ago. The lower floors of the new one will soon be sheathed in Chinese glass.

7. Not to put too fine a point on this, but it was called the World Trade Center
As in trade with the world.

Unless China had something to do with bringing down the towers, I see no reason why Chinese glass should not be used in this building.

Now, if it was called the American Trade Center, I would have a problem.

11.  simple solution to this problem....the unions refuse to handle the glass

it worked when the saturn plant was being built.the union guys refused to handle Canadian steel beams so saturn bought

h/i beams from the rolling mill i worked at. northwestern steel and wire`s 24" rolling mill received the order for the and we rolled american steel for an american plant.

17. Very ironic indeed
China sits back and watches the wars. Meanwhile, they're profiting from the unrest and turmoil.

THIS is the reason they've lasted a thousand years.

14. 'I see no reason why Chinese glass should not be used in this building.
Unemployment here the highest in 50 years. Chinese steel is also being used in California road building projects.

Why would we want to put Americans back to work? China's growth and well-being is more important.

Anyone who doesn't agree with you is a xenophobe.

will have chinese glass

The majority will still be american glass. It looks like no american manufactures competed for the contract to make the glass for the lower floors

How can glass become unsafe? It will happen sooner or later. The stuff will crumble.
