Senate Republicons just say NO to Paygo |
|
All forty senate Republicons voted no on Pay as you Go budgeting. The bill passed the senate by a vote of 60 to 40. In spite of their non-stop whining about deficit spending, not one of those hypocrits voted for the measure. http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=111&session=2&vote=00012

I can't figure them out unless they are stupider than I thought.

7. Paygo is a great philosophy. Its a shitty law |
|
Especially in a recession.
Oddly enough, its also a Republican wet-dream. So its strange times indeed

9. One of the problems with the law is |
|
that it lets them off the hook for tax increases. They'll use the excuse, we don't want to raise you taxes, we HAVE to raise your taxes, it's the law.
In my home state of MA, the state legislature redesigned their pay structure so that if some convoluted economic equation involving mean, median or average income went up, they AUTOMATICALLY got a pay raise, which prevents them the bad PR from having to vote themselves a raise anymore. They didn't want a raise, they say, they HAD to get a raise, it was the law.
