Jump in food prices boosts wholesale inflation
Grocery prices seem to be increasing to me.

WASHINGTON - U.S. producer prices rose more than expected in March on strong consumer food and gasoline costs, but a small gain in the core measure pointed to tame underlying inflation, a government report showed on Thursday.

The Labor Department said the seasonally adjusted index for prices paid at the farm and factory gate increased 0.7 percent following a 0.6 percent drop in February.

Analysts polled by Reuters had expected producer prices to rise 0.4 percent in March. Compared to March last year, producer prices increased 6.0 percent, the largest advance since September 2008. Producer prices rose 4.4 percent in February, year over year.

2. one positive effect of this for me
my series I-bonds that I bought in 2001 are paying nicely again. They paid zero for 6 months which really sucked.

With the return of inflation follows the return of this investment at least; for now anyway.

Still with rates at 0% almost ... :grr:

3. Groceries seem to be increasing to me, too.
These past 2 months are the first that I haven't quite been able to keep within my food budget. I thought it was my imagination, or me just doing a lousy job of shopping/budgeting lately.....

Apparently, I'm not alone here.
