what is the total # of workers in unions in the US?
I looked online but i'm not very good at finding info of that nature..

1. Union membership is in steady decline. Currently 15.8Million
In 1983 (the first year with numbers I could find) union employment was a little over 20% of jobs. For 2003 in was down to 12.9%.

I doubt 1983 was the high point either. I'd bet there are well under half as many union jobs as there once were (by percentage).
