pulse plugs for auto's, thoughts on
I seen an add in the latest popular science mag and it caught my eye so I wonder what others think of these. I guess I'll have to buy one to check it out. I do know for a fact that all things being the same and if you have one engine that has a hotter spark it is much easier to start. anyways

1. Thanks for the info. Looks interesting.
I'll need new spark plugs in a year or so and I'll keep these in mind. Looks like they might be costly up front, though.

3. I about shit when after I posted I looked and they cost 25 buck a pop
but the idea sounds feasible. looks to me like they are using a capicator to store some energy.

2. Airplane engines have two plugs per cylinder
And just in case your thinking it's for safety you'd be wrong ... it's efficiency and power (that's on the exam). Safety is an added bonus. The technology for making cars more efficient has been around a long time. It's just been ignored.

4. if an automobile with conventional points and plugs ignition system
stops running it is more likely to be the ignition and that is one of the reasons that small aircraft have two totally independent ignition systems one of the side effects is it is somewhat more efficent in burning the fuel. I'm not sure what exam your refering to though. same reasons that many boat motors have a totally seperate ignition system for each cylinder. when a storm comes up one cylinder is better than no cylinder. so I'm inclined to believe its for safetys sake

5. my old 84 Nissan had 2 plugs/cylinder
one to burn the exhaust fumes. It was a colder plug.

Bosch has a 2 tip and 4 tip now that burns more efficiently, most auto parts stores have them.
