Anyone here running a WVO vehicle? |
|
I hope this is the right place to post this...
My fiance and i just decided to buy a diesel VW Vanagon -- it's a 1982 Westfalia camper. We are super excited!!! Our plan is to convert it to run on WVO before we get married next year, so we can do an eco-roadtrip honeymoon.
:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
So, on to my question -- has anyone here done this conversion? We are thinking of buying the greasecar kit and doing it ourselves. I thought this might be a good place to get in touch with others who have veggie cars. Or, if you have suggestions of other websites that would be cool too (I'm already registered at fillup4free.com).
Thanks in advance!

1. Please do me a favor... |
|
if you come across any useful information about this, please PM me. By "useful information", I mean for someone like me who has to study the diagram before checking the oil.
Thanks. :)

As far as i can tell, it's not super complicated -- i don't know much about cars either. But you're not really messing with the engine, just running another fuel line. If we do this ourselves, though, we're definitely going to have some friends on hand who are "car people"!

3. Yes, I'm running on WVO. Wouldn't have it any other way. |

The greasecar kits are decent, especially if it's your first time. Or you might want to pay an installer.

Do you have any problems with the veg oil in the VT wintertime?

the system heats up the fuel, so it doesn't matter what the ambient temperature is. Whether it's summer or winter, you need to start up and run for a few minutes on regular diesel, or biodiesel, so that the veg system can heat up. Then flip the switch and you're free from Bush's oil!
