"Energy obese" UK could be emissions-free by 2027

LONDON (Reuters) - Forget about Britain's plan to reduce emissions 60 percent by 2050. According to a radical new strategy released on Monday, the country could be completely carbon-free within two decades.

Zerocarbonbritain, the first strategy to propose eliminating carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, advocates a series of drastic measures, such as limiting domestic flights to emergency use, that would make an "Island Britain" self-sufficient in energy.

The result would be to abolish Britain's CO2 emissions, which trap the sun's heat in the earth's atmosphere, by 2027.

"The UK government's (current target) is well ahead of its peers, but still falls far short of what is known to be needed," Tim Helweg-Larsen, one of the authors of the report commissioned by Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) in Wales.

3. Yes, let us all be rich and thin and beautiful -- like the Beckhams
And virtuous.

The fat are ever so weak of will. Obesity has simply led to the most dreadful decline in standards among the working classes.

We need to set a good example for them, and the intestinal fortitude to administer corrective discipline where it becomes necessary. The Empire (and, perforce, Her Majesty) have placed their trust and hopes in us. Let us not tarry.

4. Yet another "report" from the self referential anti-nuke industry picked up by a media
where critical thinking is unknown.

Nobody takes this crap seriously any more, except of course, the uncritical media, the same people who told us that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction and that George W. Bush would be a great President because you could "sit down for a beer with him."

Jesus "could" return well before 2050, but anyone betting the lives of their family on such an event would probably not be regarded as overly sane. If I wrote a "report" saying that we don't need to do anything about climate change because Jesus will return by 2050, I wouldn't be taken seriously and of course, that is a good thing.

Climate change will not start in 2050. It is happening NOW. The world's largest source, by far, of climate change free energy is nuclear energy. Anyone who appreciates numbers can see that.
