Man swims at North Pole
British adventurer and swimmer Lewis Gordon Pugh on Sunday became the first person to swim in the icy waters of the North Pole, to raise awareness of how global warming is effecting the polar ice cap.

Pugh, 37, took 18 minutes and 50 seconds to swim one kilometre (0.6 miles) in the minus 1.8-degree Celsius (28.8-degree Fahrenheit) water -- the coldest water ever swum in, he claimed in a statement.

"I hope my swim will inspire world leaders to take climate change seriously. The decisions which they make over the next few years will determine the biodiversity of our world," he added.

1. "raise awareness " I don't really think that's the problem.

Most people I run into that oppose Global Warning action do so not because they don't believe in Global Warming:

Most believe it's happening but:

1) It's not our fault. Weather and climate are cyclical. This is a nature change in the climate.

2) Yes it is happening and maybe it's a good thing. Some cold places will be warmer.....

3) Scientists are just making this up to win lucrative research grants.

In my humble opinion more time should be spent on 'why' not showing pictures of the warming.
