Help...Need some websites or action groups that are trying to improve fuel mileage
My son and I were discussing fuel mileage. He's really into cars and says that there are no universities that are doing research on improving gas mileage for gasoline. He says that the universities are researching diesel, but not gasoline.

I told him that there are plenty. He challenged me to find some because he'd like to see them and maybe donate. Help a Mom out. He's not interested in alternative fuels, just improving gas mileage.

Look for any schools doing things in conjuction with swri:

...who run the HEDGE consortium...

...maybe send them an email and ask them to recommend a program.

But if you can convince him to take his gaze off gasoline itself and onto general items of use to all vehicles, there's a lot of action at MIT and other tech schools in electromotive, thermoelectric waste heat recovery, and thermophotovoltaics for ancillary and perhaps eventually prime mover power:

I'll share them with my obstinate 26-year-old son next time I see him. He has apparently been looking for information from universities around the Great Lakes. I guess because they are near Detroit.
