Wind turbine whining unwarranted
http://news.scotsman.com/latest_uk.cfm?id=1199672007

LONDON (Reuters) - Most wind turbines do not make much noise as they spin around making electricity and people who complain about them should not be losing sleep, according to a study published on Wednesday.

Some people living near wind farms complain they are kept awake by a phenomenon known as aerodynamic modulation (AM), low frequency noise made as the blades swoosh through the night air.

A government-commissioned study by Salford University found the phenomenon -- sometimes described as sounding like a distant train -- could affect four of the country's 133 wind farms.

This, the government says, is no justification for stemming the growth of the technology Britain is betting on to cut its carbon emissions.

1. Really? Let's exclude all locals from opposing wind farms.
Edited on Sat Aug-11-07 05:12 PM by NNadir
Who cares what the locals think any way?

The wind industry should be able to build wind farms wherever they want.

That includes Robert F. Kennedy Junior's backyard too.

The wind industry trumps all. It's right about everything. It's the bestest goodest industry in the world.

It should be an element of international law that opposition to wind farms (and complaints about wind farms) should be disallowed.

On the other hand...

...There's brazillions and brazillions and brazillions of megawatts of free solar energy available. Clearly now that the wind industry and solar industry are fighting to with each other after having driven every other form of energy out of business, I'm sure it doesn't matter how this plays out. I feel like every day I read about another brazillion "world's largest" solar hydrogen roofs.

The great renewable hemp industry can't even hope to break in with this great renewable energy glut in place.
