Following the Pope's 'do something before it's too late' speech to a youth eco-rally yesterday (with a Vatican estimate of 500,000 in attendance), THE ENVIRONMENTALIST's editors decided to review the environmental position of all prominent religious groups:

...the expression of prayer by the devout for a higher power to intervene and for the faithful to do their part to bring about resolution-- has been making a reappearance around the globe as the visual and visceral evidence of climate change presents itself in stark and unforgiving ways... Now if we could just develop beyond magical thinking about what constitutes a higher power; that WOULD be "the Second Coming"!
