Sunny, hot. Good weather. Rain returned. Crops coming in nicely.
Strange things are afoot, some good some bad.
Connie's daughter showed up on our doorstep out of the blue yesterday. She was exhausted. Apparently things aren't’t going well anymore in North California. Severe drought. Wild fires. She and two friends hopped a freight back this way. One of the friends was shot by the police and is held somewhere in Nevada.
She heard that Denver is also under marshal law, apparently people have been rioting there for the good part of 3 months.
She was surprised that we didn't’t know about Alaska. Through some sort of deal, more like extortion, the Russians now own a huge portion of it. I’m sure their military played a roll as well.
Several huge military transport plans and helicopters flew over last week. Flew very low too.
It appears as if the military has contracted out the security services now that the police have been sidelined. A company called “State Security” is now patrolling the area, both on foot and in trucks. I think the trucks are running on bio from the smell of them.
Mr Albert’s short wave blew out last week during a lightening storm. We are all trying to find a way to fix it. It’s pretty fried.
A couple of drifters came through the neighborhood last week looking for work. Seemed nice enough. Still here.
If things keep going well with the farms, we should be in good shape come winter. About ½ mile away, someone started an orchard of peaches. Hope they get the freeze they need.
Aside from world events things seem to be settling in now. Took a few years, but barring any weirdness from the “government” or the military, we should do okay.
Times up.
