Nuclear Energy and the Fossil Fuels

by M. King Hubbert

< Of course a lot of the details are very dated, but this is the paper which gave rise to the concept of Peak Oil. It has previously been available as a scanned document in PDF format but we present it here in text format for the first time, 50 years and one day after it was presented to much consternation at the American Petroleum Institute conference on March 8 1956.[br />

This is Hubbert's original presentation, transfered to HTML (mostly text) format. Interesting to note the emphasis on nuclear energy is not mentioned by most familiar with the concept of Hubbert's peak. It might be worth noting that Hubbert's employer was about to enter the field of uranium enrichment, and was hardly a disinterested observer.
