swim in a small pool without running another pump, wasting energy and contributing to the energy crisis. In fact, all health clubs should have their machines running generators so that the building might approach energy neutrality, zero in, zero out.

1. Wow! I was waiting for someone to come up with something...
...to make swimming even more frustrating and pointless than it is already. Swimming like hell and not getting anywhere would destroy what little sanity I have left. As if treadmills aren't bad enough.

2. I don't see anything at that link about this generating energy.
It's just a harness to allow you to swim in place.

What's www.endlessfools.tv? That domain doesn't seem to exist.

Why Not Generate

Harvesting the Energy
Of Hong Kong Gym Rats;
Lighting Up Dance Floors
By JANE SPENCER

HONG KONG -- A health club here is hoping that a car battery, some StairMasters and dozens of gym rats can help ease the world's energy problems.

Rita Wong is doing her part. One evening recently, the fit 27-year-old, dressed in black spandex, pedaled furiously on an elliptical machine at the California Fitness health club. As she worked up a sweat to a Madonna song blasting on the gym's sound system, the energy she created was transformed into electricity and stored in a battery that powers some of the gym's lights

4. Okay. Now I get it.
The harness thing doesn't generate energy. It's an energy free (and cheaper) way to accomplish something similar to what an "endless pool" does.
