Bluegrass Ridge Wind Farm in northwest Missouri’s Gentry County began over coffee at a local café. Tom Carnahan, who got the project going, says it would have never gotten off the ground without local landowners.

"Getting the landowners in the community, their support and involvement is key. It doesn't matter how good your wind is, if a community doesn't want a wind farm there, there's not gonna be one."

The wind farm, which has 27 wind turbine towers on eight-thousand acres, was dedicated on Monday. It's Missouri's first wind farm with two more under development.
