Florida Renewables Expo & Tennessee Solar Expo scheduled in October
2007 Florida Renewable Energy Expo
The Renewable Energy Expo is a forum for industry, government officials and the public to learn more about the status of current renewable energy technologies, leverage financial incentive opportunities and network with like-mined individuals and organizations.
Start date: October 12, 2007
End date: October 13, 2007
Cost: $75
Location: Orlando, Florida USA

Friday, October 12, 2007: Ticketed event offered to local renewable energy professionals, non-profit leaders and government agencies. Featuring presentation sessions, luncheon and evening networking reception.
Special Presentation: Signing of a Joint Energy Resolution with Mayor Buddy Dyer, Mayor Rich Crotty and Lonnie Bell, President of the Orlando Utilities Commission
Location - Embassy Suites Downtown Orlando: 9:30am - 8:00pm
Fee: Pre-Registration - $75 & Onsite Registration $90
Saturday, October 13, 2007: Vendor displays, live music, and renewable energy demonstrations followed by an evening feature film event at the Walt Disney Amphitheater (Lake Eola Park). Also showcasing presentations on hot renewable energy and sustainability topics at the Embassy Suites Downtown Orlando.

1st Southeast Solar Summit
Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy are hosting the first Southeast Solar Summit on October 24-25, 2007, at the ORNL Conference Center. The Summit will focus on new opportunities for collaborative solar R&D and market transformation in the Southeast.
Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy are hosting the first Southeast Solar Summit on October 24-25, 2007, at the ORNL Conference Center. The Summit will focus on new opportunities for collaborative solar R&D and market transformation in the Southeast. A technical report will be prepared as an outcome of the Summit .
Among the technologies that will be on display is an Arizona Public Service 5-kilowatt photovoltaic solar array that will be providing electricity to one of the laboratory buildings. The array uses Memphis-based Sharp Solar's photovoltaic modules. A concentrator photovoltaic system from JX Crystals will also be on display. Others participating include Lakeland Electric, Georgia Institute of Technology, Solar Energy Industries Association, Solar Electric Power Association, Lightwave Solar Electric, Sterling Planet, Tennessee Valley Authority, Howard Baker Center for Public Policy, The Shelton Group, North Carolina Solar Center and Florida Solar Energy Center.
Attendees will include energy managers, policy advocates, executives from industry, utilities and the public sector; educators, researchers, economic development specialists, community action agencies, builders, legislators, students and community planners.
Chris O'Brien, chairman of the board of Solar Energy Industries Association and vice president of Strategy and Government Relations for Sharp Solar, will help open the conference. Sessions will focus on all aspects of solar research and development and strategies to bring technologies to the market.
Also scheduled is the unveiling of ORNL's Center for Advanced Thin Film Solar Cells, a new user center consisting of four adjacent laboratories that will be focused on photovoltaics research and development and will include a variety of diagnostic capabilities. Solid-state lighting research will also be conducted in the facility, dubbed CATS.
Three Tours and a Workshop Bonus are available for Summit attendees:
Tour of near-zero energy homes at the Habitat for Humanity subdivision in Lenoir City, TN.
. Tour of Buffalo Mountain Wind Farm (provided by TVA).
. Tour of the Spallation Neutron Source.
. Workshop on Hybrid Solar Lighting (provided by Sunlight Direct, Inc.).
