Getting estimate for solar water heating this a.m. |
|
Looks like it's finally financially viable.
Ballpark numbers from installer: "An 80-gallon solar preheating tank with a 10'x4' solar panel mounted on the house roof producing around 75 gallons/day of 120 degree water . We install this size system for around $5,500. It qualifies for a 30% federal tax credit of $1,650 on your next income tax filing. With the tax credit and Alabama Power's 25% price increase over the last two years factored in we would expect this system to pay for itself in around 4 years."
