How to calculate avoided emissions from non fossil fuel energy sources

I just came across a document from a couple of years ago that some of you might like. It is an unpublished 2 page paper that explains how to calculate emissions of C, SO2 and NOx from the various fossil fuels used to generate electricity.

I don't know how to post here and maintain the tables, so if you PM me, I'll send you a copy. Or, if someone knows how to easily post tables, let me know and I'll put it up here.


"Generating electrical power from the wind, unlike power from fossil fuels, does not produce emissions of CO2, SO2, and NOx. The first of these is the principal cause of anthropogenic global warming,2-3 while the last two contribute to acid raid, fine particulate matter, and, in the case of NOx, to the formation of tropospheric ozone. In 2002, the last year for which we had emissions data, the net electrical generation in Delaware was 6.0x106 MWh (megawatt hours). The portfolio of energy sources is shown in Table 1."
