SeaGen Tidal Unit Installed (world's first commercial tidal turbine, Ireland)
http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/rea/news/story?id=52037

Installation has started on the SeaGen project, a tidal powered turbine that generates electricity from tidal currents. The installation at Strangford Lough, off the coast of Northern Ireland, will be the first commercial tidal-stream application anywhere in the world.

The underwater movement of the tidal flow turns the turbine like an underwater windmill, producing an energy source that could provide enough electricity to power around 1000 homes. UK company Marine Current Turbine (MCT) is installing the device. The project has been in development since 2005.
