Update on my solar water heater

Finally installed last week.
It was almost 3 months between contract signing and installation.
The guy ran into some incredible supply problems.
Among them: His principal tank supplier closed the local factory and moved it to Mexico. :grr:
Now all tanks have to come in through port of Jacksonville, FL. 6 hours away, customs, etc.

Anyway final cost $4850.
Tax credit (30%) $1455.
Net cost $3395.

The 80 gallon tank is maintaining at around 140 F.
That will probably get higher as summer progresses.
Our electric water heater is set at 125 F.
Yesterday I turned it off.

If we get some rainy days I can turn it back on.
Otherwise I'll probably bring it back online in late fall.
I'm lovin' it.

What with the cost of transportation added to everything, no wonder prices are up. I feel like I live on a small island.
