Wolverine Makes 550-Mile Trek From Pocatello To Yellowstone
BILLINGS - "A wolverine equipped with a Global Positioning System collar wandered from Pocatello, Idaho, to the northern reaches of Yellowstone National Park - covering nearly 550 miles in seven weeks - in one of the longest recorded treks by a species known to be wily and elusive.

The walkabout was tracked by scientists with the Wildlife Conservation Society, who published the results of their study in the latest issue of Northwest Science.

The paper provides a detailed itinerary of one wolverine's travels in 2002. Researchers knew that wolverines can cover a lot of ground, but no one expected the animal to travel through three states, two national parks and eight mountain ranges.

"This guy kinda blew the doors open as far as what was known about long-distance travel," said Brent Brock, one of the paper's authors. The study was led by biologists Bob and Kristine Inman of Bozeman."

2. And think of the rivers it had to cross too
I've always been fascinated by how species obviously somehow cross rivers and mountain ranges - what got them motivated to do so?

3. ...so they killed him.
Legally trapped, but croaked nonetheless. These animals are very uncommon at best but the current maladministration refuses to put them on the ESL. By the time a concensus is reached on listing it will be time for a captive breeding program. These people are evil filth, Gail Norton should share a bathroom with a couple of wolverines wired on crank.
