Nine out of ten Americans making lifestyle changes to cope with rising energy costs, RBC survey say
"NIMBYism" on the Decline as Americans Grapple with Solutions Four in Ten Have Considered Moving Closer to Their Place of Work to Save on Transportation Costs

NEW YORK /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Ninety per cent of Americans have made changes in their daily lives to counter higher energy prices, according to an annual energy survey released today by RBC Capital Markets, one of North America's leading energy investment banks. And while six out of 10 say they would rather pay more for cleaner fuels, an almost equal number of Americans (58 per cent) say it is more important to keep the green in their wallets than to participate in green initiatives.

1. Right now, it's all nuisance, news, and op-ed cartoons
I thought I had seen enough cartoons of gas station signs reading "Regular -- ARM, Hi-Test -- LEG" in the 1970s.

But I was terribly, horribly wrong.

The current wave of the incoming tide of crisis is still new and still more of a shared inconvenience than an upheaval. By early next year, the wave of inflation should be kicking in pretty good, and the international news won't be about gas lines but food shortages and famines.

In spite of all these waves, tidal energy generation won't budge from the blackboard. The oil company ads will show aeolian wind turbines (by the thousands), but the lion's share of the investment will go for "clean coal" and ethanol.
