Brits doubt cause of climate change
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2008/jun/22/climatechange.carbonemissions

The majority of the British public is still not convinced that climate change is caused by humans - and many others believe scientists are exaggerating the problem, according to an exclusive poll for The Observer.

1. LMAO
I'm sure this will be comfort to them when they're lying in the streets dying of thirst and hunger. "I'm dying, but it wasn't MY fault!"

2. My Republican BF doesn't either. He said somebody he knows who is a climatoligist said it was not
so, (I didn't actually hear him say so.) He also believe there are MORE polar bears than their used to be - ala Rush Limbaugh.

3. he must have other endearing qualities
I work with scientists and, while there are the occasional ones that don't believe in an anthropogenic component to global warming, they are few and far between.. and I'm guessing most of them are reacting to what somebody has said rather than a paper they've read.

There's a bit more of them than the ones that don't believe in evolution, but not many.

4. My Republican BF didn't buy into human influence on climate change either.
Probably one reason why he's now my ex-BF.

7. I would guess that this response is indicative of most people
whether in Britain or abroad. The full immensity of the issue has failed to be accepted by most people. Politicians are simply failing to face up to the issue, the scientists are failing to get the message across and too many people are cocooned within their day to day existences, sucking on the teat of commercialism and preferring to face up to reality. Time is running out and far too few are calling for the change that is necessary.

8. At this point

At this point I'd settle for people simply believing that we're in the early phase of a drastic climate change, regardless of what is responsible.

But it's a hard sell -- despite overwhelming evidence -- to even get that message across.
