NASA Scientist: Put CEOs On Trial for Global-Warming Lies (Faux News)
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,370521,00.html

The heads of major fossil-fuel companies who spread disinformation about global warming should be "tried for high crimes against humanity and nature," according to a leading climate scientist.

Dr. James Hansen, director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, sounded the alarm about global warming in testimony before a Senate subcommittee exactly 20 years ago.

He returned to the topic Monday with a speech at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., given to the Worldwatch Institute, before which he was called a hero by former Sen. Tim Wirth, D-Colo., who headed the 1988 hearing.

"Special interests have blocked the transition to our renewable energy future," Hansen writes in an opinion piece posted on the institute's Web site. "Instead of moving heavily into renewable energies, fossil fuel companies choose to spread doubt about global warming, just as tobacco companies discredited the link between smoking and cancer.

1. Hansen is a nut.
Prosecute one for being a skeptic? What has this country become?

3. No...
No, you prosecute Energy company CEO's for actively lying about, and exacerbating a situation in order to preserve a status quo, which they know to be a threat to human existence.

In which case, calling Dr Hansen "a nut" is probably a bit wide of the mark (the qualifications of the nut are below)

Education
Hansen was trained in physics and astronomy in the space science program of Dr. James Van Allen at the University of Iowa. He obtained a B.A. in Physics and Mathematics with highest distinction in 1963, an M.S. in Astronomy in 1965 and a Ph.D. in Physics, in 1967, all three degrees from the University of Iowa. He participated in the NASA graduate traineeship from 1962 to 1966 and, at the same time, between 1965 and 1966, he was a visiting student at the Institute of Astrophysics at the University of Kyoto and in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Tokyo.

Honors and awards
Hansen was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1996<7> and he received a $250,000 Heinz Environment Award<8> for his research on global warming in 2001. He was listed as one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the Time 100 (2006) list and, in 2007, he was awarded the Dan David Prize. On April 5, 2008, Dr. Hansen received the PNC Bank Common Wealth Award of Distinguished Service for his outstanding achievements in science.

5. I'm a nut
Watching the news tonight I saw an old oil company exec saying the days they killed the electric car were behind them, let's all look ahead to the days when the energy companies will be at the forefront of renewable energy and helping protect what's left of Nature. I said people like that man should all be thrown in jail, which led to a big fight with my husband about how it's okay as long as they've changed their ways :eyes: so I'm a nut for thinking any of those rich powerful old guys are guilty for a few million of the tons of shit we've pumped in the air and what it's done.
