Markbygden & Enercon To Erect 3-GW Wind Farm in Sweden
http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/rea/news/story?id=52877

Wind turbine manufacturer Enercon and Markbygden Vind AB have signed a cooperation agreement to develop and install one of Europe's largest interconnected onshore wind farm projects with a capacity of between 3 and 3.5 gigawatts (GW). Expected to be completed by 2020, the wind farm is planned to cover an area of 450 square-kilometers in Tavelsjo, in the municipality of Pitea in north Sweden.

The project will be equipped with 2-megawatt Enercon wind turbines and is expected to generation 8-10 terrawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity annually. Along with the wind project, Enercon is planning, amongst other things, to build a concrete tower production plant in the region and is setting up a local maintenance and service station. Installation of the first wind turbines is scheduled for autumn 2008 and the entire project is expected to be completed by 2020. Markbygden is an affiliate of project developers Svevind AB.
