3. Actually fairly common ... |
|
... as hurricanes typically spin-up north along the Gulf Stream to die as tropical depressions. I can attest having lived in Ireland for a number of years that they still have quite a punch left. When the remains of Hurricane Hugo hit Ireland a number of years ago, I witnessed winds that were hitting 40 to 60 mph gusts. Trees and power were knocked down. Several people were killed.

4. I learn something new every day. |

This thing had structure. Spinning about a central core, like a TS. Is that normal?

6. I think somewhat untypical ... |
|
... but heck, Irish weather typically can be sometimes untypical (like warm dry summers)! :-) Here's the latest satellite photo ... http://www.met.ie/recentweather/satellite.asp

8. It was bad here in Cork for a couple of days. |
|
Flooded a large portion of Patrick street. I saw people wading in floodwaters up to their waists.
Supposedly, it was the worst storm in the last 20 years. Winds were recorded over 75 mph. My ten minute walk to work was no fun at all :(

Small world....
How's the renovation going in Cork? When we were there last summer, the place was a mess getting ready for next year (I think it is?) and no place for folks used to driving in America.

When I moved here in August, the streets were torn to hell, but aside from Oliver Plunket street being totally torn up and a bit of work on Washington Street and a smattering or two elsewhere, it's all done.
I do live on the extremely narrow Sunday's Well Road, and after buying a car yesterday driving on this street is very, um, interesting.
Must be tough being a democrat in Grove City. Good luck to ya.
